Most of what we know we learn from the mass media has been postulated since Luhmann. But what are these mass media anyway in times of social media, fake news and increasingly AI-generated content? What criteria do we have to define the necessary qualities to be able to learn from it and, above all, what prior knowledge, what education is needed to be able to learn from it?
At the ESEC Think & Drinks in May, we want to ask ourselves what we need to know nowadays in order to be able to participate in society in Europe, but also why there are increasing interests to prevent this, to polarise and to divide society.
What equipment do we need to arm ourselves with? But above all what minimum competence can we expect as producers or providers of educational media? What about ethical and moral responsibility? And what do we do when trust in the (educational) media is shaken and we encounter resistance to education? As you can see, there are many questions that we would like to discuss together.
